Job Description: Business Information Modeling (BIM) Specialist

Location: Sacramento

Position Summary: The BIM Specialist will play a key role in implementing design and delivery processes for major infrastructure projects. This position will ensure the production of high-standard BIM outputs, manage drawing production, and oversee modeling standards. The BIM Specialist will also guide BIM initiatives, including staff training, modeling processes, and technology implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement BIM Level 2 standards to meet project expectations.
  • Advise on and support system upgrades for CAD/BIM tools.
  • Maintain and support BIM/CAD application software, including Revit, Civil 3D, and Navisworks.
  • Develop tools to optimize BIM workflows and design templates in 2D and 3D.
  • Manage the creation and organization of document sets for the California High-Speed Rail Project.
  • Facilitate collaboration and clash detection for multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Troubleshoot Civil 3D/Revit project-related issues and lead software development efforts.
  • Mentor staff on BIM standards and quality assurance practices.
  • Ensure delivery of models and drawings adheres to project-specific BIM execution plans.

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience in BIM management for infrastructure or transportation projects.
  • Expertise in ISO 19650 standards and BIM Level 2 accreditation.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Civil 3D, BIM360, Navisworks, and related tools.
  • Strong background in multi-disciplinary design and coordination processes.
  • Experience managing senior CAD/BIM staff and supporting BIM standards at a national or regional level.
  • Knowledge of asset management technologies and related software systems (EAM-IS, CMMS, GIS).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with rail and transit projects.
  • Proven ability to lead design integration and manage complex engineering production environments.

Work Environment: The position involves working in a climate-controlled office and may require occasional travel to project sites, where exposure to dust, noise, and traffic is possible.

Approximate Salary Range $70,000 to $100,000 depedning on experience
