Capital Construction Service Planning Representative – Service Planning & Design (Hybrid)
Department Overview The Service Planning and Design (SP&D) group supports the company’s vision by delivering safe, reliable, and affordable electric and gas services to customers in compliance with applicable regulatory and internal standards. SP&D supports both gas and electric operations through customer project management, design, and estimating functions.
Position Summary As a Service Planning Representative within the SP&D organization, you will be responsible for overseeing customer advocacy, project coordination, and the successful delivery of new business gas and electric projects. This role involves working directly with customers, internal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet all compliance standards. The position also involves coordinating across multiple teams to address emerging trends and legislative impacts and providing support during major emergencies. This hybrid role requires working both remotely and at the assigned location as needed. Travel of up to 30% may be required.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Advocacy & Project Coordination:
Act as a primary contact for customers, ensuring their needs and expectations are addressed professionally and proactively.
Coordinate the end-to-end service delivery process for new business gas and electric projects, driving positive customer experiences.
Project Management:
Develop, review, and manage cost estimates, engineering designs, and project schedules and manage various project aspects.
Monitor project budgets and timelines to ensure successful delivery.
Compliance & Standards:
Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory standards (including CPUC General Orders), and safety requirements.
Provide guidance on tariffs, rules, and contracts, ensuring all work meets compliance criteria.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Partner with internal teams, including engineering, construction, and estimating, to ensure seamless project execution.
Build and maintain effective relationships with customers and union representatives, resolving issues and ensuring alignment with union contracts.
Process Improvement & Tools Adoption:
Support the implementation of new tools and processes to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in project workflows and customer engagement.
Safety & Emergency Response:
Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring all work is conducted with a strong emphasis on health and safety practices.
Provide project support during emergencies, helping to ensure swift and effective responses.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of job-related experience.
2+ years of experience in utility, construction, or urban planning, including project management, service planning, estimating, or technical customer service.
Valid driver’s license.
Desired Qualifications:
Certifications such as PMP or Construction Management.
Strong knowledge of utility industry safety practices, tariffs, and construction standards.
Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Office, SAP, Salesforce, and other project management software.
