Procurement Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Procurement Specialist with Raw Materials Experience will play a pivotal role in ensuring the company's production processes run seamlessly. This individual will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and buying the highest quality raw materials at the most cost-effective prices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analyze daily raw material shortages in order to place orders with our approved suppliers for EOQ (economic order quantities)
Manage current and establish relationships with potential suppliers both locally and internationally.
Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to ensure continuous improvement in terms of quality, cost, delivery, and service.
Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers, ensuring the best possible terms for the company.
Process purchase orders for food ingredients and raw materials, ensuring timely deliveries and accurate documentation.
Collaborate closely with the production team to understand their requirements and forecast future needs.
Monitor global and regional market trends for food ingredients and raw materials.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in the food production sector and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.
Work in tandem with the Quality Control Department to ensure that procured ingredients meet or exceed company and regulatory standards.
Address any non-compliance issues promptly and effectively.
Develop and implement cost-saving measures and strategies without compromising on quality.
Regularly review, analyze, and report on the budget and spending.
Ensure that all procurement activities adhere to industry regulations, certifications, and company policies.
Maintain comprehensive records of all transactions, contracts, and correspondence.
Engage regularly with leadership, internal teams, such as production, R&D, and finance, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Address any procurement-related queries, issues, or concerns promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field. A degree in Food Science or a related discipline is a plus.
Minimum of 3 years experience in procurement, with specific experience in raw materials procurement for foods and beverages.
Strong knowledge of the global food ingredient and raw material market, suppliers, and trends.
Familiarity with safety and quality standards in the food industry.
